Description
The Inner Self: A Writing Workshop Silence is habituated within Western Cultures, particularly in abusive homes. To work against the growing legacy of restriction, inhibition, nihilism and violence that accompanies growing up within a home in which certain members were never safe, Dr. Niama L. Williams takes participants through exercises to free the tongues of those habitually silent and acquaint others with the self-imposed restrictions we all create without conscious awareness. Practice speaking of that which lays buried most deeply in the psyche in a safe environment with peers who know only too well the habit of silence and the prison fear of self-disclosure can become for those with the most pain-filled secrets. Join us for an afternoon of speaking freely and claiming the right to respond to that which hurts us yet is not, and never was, our fault. |
