Bill Saulnier Description
Bebop Trombone to Sizzle on Jazz
Night at the Esplanade Arts Center
The throaty sound of the slide trombone will fill the air when the Bill Saulnier Quartet takes the stage on Sunday June 15 at the Esplanade Arts Center in San Jacinto. Bill has played the instrument since he was nine years old. Why the trombone? “The trombone picked me,” he says. “It was the only instrument that had a slide. It was cool-looking. I love the sound.” Are there any surprises for the audience during the performance? “Bebop trombone, high, fast and loud.” The talented musician is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and the University of Redlands Music Department Performance Program. Joining Bill are bassist Eugene Jacinto, guitarist Dan Pendergrass and drummer James Nation. The evening’s music will be a blend of traditional and improvisational. Music at the Center, scheduled monthly by the Diamond Valley Arts Council, occurs on the third Sunday of the month. The address is 2181 W. Esplanade Avenue (at Sanderson), San Jacinto CA 92583. Guests receive two glasses of wine (or other beverage), appetizer, access to the current gallery exhibition, the sculptures of Max DeMoss, as well as the concert.
