Apple was formed in 1982 when bandleader Joe Salamone and Rhythm guitar/keyboardist Joel Neer moved back to Phoenix after a few years of “Beatle mania” groups from Milwaukee to Atlanta.  The group began its long and winding road in the ski resorts of Vail, Aspen and Dillon Colorado and was an overnight sensation. The group’s attention to detail in the music, vocals and instrumentation proved to be very popular with the hard core Beatle fans they encountered all over the USA and many other countries they traveled to.  Apple was the first act requested to return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1983 after a smash hit tour to 17 cities in 1982, and visited Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Guam, and Okinawa after a stop in Hawaii to play in Pearl Harbor.

Over the years Apple has been asked to share the stage with a variety of other artists such as The Four Tops, the Temptations, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, JR. Walker and the All Stars, and other artists from many musical backgrounds.

Today Joe and Joel together with Jerry Gray on drums and Peter Storn on lead guitar make up the current version of Apple which began performing in 1999 and has been a Valley favorite wherever they perform.  Still keeping it as original as possible with the Vox amplifiers, The Ludwig –Super Classic “Black Oyster Pearl” drum set, the Hofner “Beatle bass guitar, the Rickenbacker 6 and 12 string guitars, the Gibson J 160 E acoustic guitar, The Hollow body Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar along with the detectable accents of “Liverpool” make an Apple performance a great show for any Beatle fan!
