Description

Singing. Dancing. Dinosaurs. Triassic Parq The Musical is not your typical night at the theatre.

HOUSTON (May 2016) - Triassic Parq THE MUSICAL, winner of the 2010 New York Fringe Festival, is a raunchy ride through the Triassic period! Utilizing the basic plot of the iconic dinosaur film, Jurassic Park, TRIASSIC PARQ reveals “the true story,” as told from the perspective of the dinosaurs. The Kaleidoscope is thrilled to announce the return of this sidesplitting musical comedy to their stage May 27 through June 12, 2016.

Morgan Freeman, the quintessential narrator, begins the story by introducing a theme-park island where dinosaurs have been brought back to life via mosquito DNA (with a little bit of frog thrown in) and put on display. Though it is assured that this plot-point “probably won’t come into play”- all of the dinosaurs are females, making sure to prevent reproduction. TRIASSIC PARQ centers around the Velociraptor of Innocence (Luke Hamilton), T-Rex 2 (Anna Drake), and her best friend, Kaitlyn (Victoria Riley) and their journey of self-discovery. Unsure of their origin and being, the dinosaurs have formed a religion, led by the Velociraptor of Faith (Tyler Galindo). On a morning like all others, the tribe has gathered for their dino-prayer-assembly (all hail Lab, giver of goats), but the prayer circle is suddenly broken by T-Rex 2, as she discovers a bizarre new growth. T-Rex 2 is immediately banished because of her “six-inch monstrosity,” and the entire tribe is thrown into turmoil. Determined to find answers to her questions, the Velociraptor of Innocence sets out with her cuddly cow companion, portrayed by the Mime-a-saurus (Colton Berry), to find “the exiled one” - the Velociraptor of Science (Brennan Ashley).

TRIASSIC PARQ is far from your typical night at the theatre. With sidesplitting book and lyrics by Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Stephen Wargo and infectious music, also by Marshall Pailet, TRIASSIC PARQ aims to offend in the best way possible! Prepare to witness hilariously foul-mouthed dinos, snappy choreography and a driving rock score that (according to “studies”) may cause “spontaneous combustion via laughter and/or dangerous sexy feelings.” Six lucky audience members will be chosen at each performance for on-stage seating, getting up close and personal with the cast of raucous dinos. TRIASSIC PARQ is directed and designed by Founding Artistic Director, Colton Berry, with music direction by Nathan Costella.

TRIASSIC PARQ runs May 27 through June 12 at The Kaleidoscope, located at 705 Main Stret, Suite B (entrance on Capitol). Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 5:00 pm. A special midnight performance will be held on Saturday, June 11. Tickets are available at www.BayouCityTheatrics.com as well as at the door, although patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to secure seating in the intimate venue.
