Alexandra Catalano is a musical improviser, writer, singer, and teacher. Her years of extensive training include Opera, Musical Theatre, and all areas of improvisation from The Groundlings, Improv Olympics, and MI Westside.
As a performer, Alexandra has performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Glendale Center Theatre, Full Circle Opera, and the Luckman Fine Arts Complex. She has made television appearances on Comedy Central, FOX, Lifetime, The CW, and is a frequent contributor to BuzzFeed and Elite Daily. Additionally, as an musical improviser, Alexandra has performed at The UCB Theater with Magic To Do, Hullaballo’s Musical Review, UCB’s Musical All-Stars, Improv Olympic’s Opening Night and Friends Show, and with 808 Hip Hop Improv. She has won MI Westside's 3X3 Tournament, and produces and performs on the popular monthly MI Westside show: Made Up Musical’s “Let’s Break Up: An Improvised Musical."
Combining her two favorite passions of singing and improvisation, Alexandra brings a fun and unique approach to teaching musical improvisation. Her expertise from years of experience studying and performing are used to breakdown the process and structure of this beautiful art form. Alexandra details step-by-step fundamentals, and then puts them to use in a supportive classroom environment. The final portion of class features an all-out jam to showcase the skills learned.
