Demerara Gold is a coming-of-age story of a spirited 7-year old girl left to survive in her two grandmothers’ worlds in the Caribbean after her parents suddenly get visas to the U.S. Ingrid cherishes a gold ring given to her as a token of her parents’ promise that they’ll soon be together again. The all-important visa finally arrives and Ingrid rejoins her parents in America only to find a whole lot more than she bargained for.
Ingrid Griffith tells her own story in this dramatic solo performance. She ably weaves her country's history, her family's story, and the experience of migration and assimilation into timeless theatre magic. With agility and artistry Ingrid takes us on a journey as she discovers her true birthright.
