Sarah Bonsignore was born in Durban, South Africa to a large and musical family. Her parents are both accomplished musicians, and when she accompanied her elementary school's music concert by ear at the age of seven, they decided it was time for some formal piano lessons. Sarah began writing songs in high school, and was a finalist for the SABC "Road to Fame" competition. She performed frequently in local competitions and festivals, and appeared on South African radio and television. She also performed as both a classical pianist and operatic soprano with city orchestras in Durban and Pietermaritzburg throughout college. One of the highlights of her career and was performing for President Mandela at an inauguration ball in her hometown of Durban before coming to America. She received her Bachelors degree in piano performance from the University of Natal, Durban, and her Masters degree in voice from the Mannes College of Music, New York. Sarah is on the faculty of the Trinity School in Manhattan where she directs three choirs, two a cappella groups, the upper school chapel music program and teaches music theory. She performs regularly as a singer-songwriter throughout New York and Nashville, and has enjoyed performing for many charities including the American Cancer Society and Boys and Girls Club of America. Sarah is a member of NSAI, the Nashville Songwriter's Association International, where she has been listed as "One To Watch" and recommended to their monthly publisher luncheons. She has two albums of original songs on iTunes, "New Sky New Day" and "Catch The Light". Sarah lives in Tappan, New York with her husband, Steve, and their three young boys, eight year old twins Sean and Thomas, and five year old Aidan.
