As an alternative rock band, native to the city of Miami, their relevance on the music scene is relatively recent; but they’ve been laying the foundation since 2010, when Emmanuel Costa-Maya (vocals) joined Eddie Salcedo (guitar), Ariel Ramirez (bass), and Michael Hernandez (keys), to form the group that would send a charge ripping through the atmosphere in this town. Possessing versatility and diverse influences through melancholy vocals and melodies over lush ambience with groove and aggressive rhythms. They aim to reach the pinnacle of musical dynamics. Constantly pushing across the boundaries of genres without fear or limitations. They continue to experiment with open minds and open hearts across the musical spectrum. When asked to describe themselves as a band, Emmanuel Costa- Maya says,“We are eclectic. Our sound is adaptive because we like so many different genres. We’re five guys with distinctive personalities that generate an unexpected sound that may be shocking, but in a good way.” But it is hard to make an impression as a band, when your leading man is on the front lines halfway around the world. Emmanuel had enlisted in the Air Force right before joining Dyne Side and was stationed in South Korea to begin his four year service. The physical distance between them as a band did not deter them from the collaborative goals they shared, it only further drove each member to work harder as motivation for one another. In the time they were apart, they managed to release their first album, Bite The IX, along with a music video for their single, Pound for Pound. They also managed to have a few live impactful performances at local venues like Tobacco Road, The Social Lubricant and Churchill’s Pub. Dyne Side has been fortifying their talents with practice and patience during their vocalist’s time in the Air Force. His return this year, 2015, marks the beginning of the next leg in their journey - together. Steffen Banas also joined them this year, as their drummer offering a welcome shift in their dynamic with new influences. With unwavering dedication, they’ve overcome every obstacle that’s presented itself. It should be expected to see a lot more from Dyne Side now, than ever before. They are finally working on putting a literal face to the music they’ve worked so tirelessly to create." We are going to be a larger presence than ever before. The tension is thick and we will bare our souls at every live show -- we want to leave it all on the stage. That is what live art is about; and that is absolutely what Dyne Side is about.”, offers Eddie Salcedo. |
