FACES is a musical revue which presents music from over 11 different shows composed by acclaimed American composer, playwright, actor and performer, Ed Dixon.
As an actor and performer, Dixon has appeared in numerous Broadway shows, including No, No, Nanette, King of Schnorrers, The Three Musketeers, Les Misérables, Cyrano, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Iceman Cometh, The Best Man, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Sunday in the Park with George, Sunset Boulevard, Anything Goes and "Mary Poppins".
His composition Fanny Hill debuted in New York at The York Theatre after being launched at Goodspeed Musicals. Fanny Hill was nominated for two Drama Desk Awards and one Drama-Logue Award. Dixon also wrote the musical Richard Cory with noted playwright A. R. Gurney. The musical won the Festival Prize and the Audience Award when it debuted at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. More recently, Whodunit... The Musical, based on a Mary Roberts Rinehart mystery has gained critical acclaim in regional venues throughout the United States.
Dixon now embarks on a tour of his one-man play Georgie: My adventures with George Rose across the country.
This presentation traces his path as a composer, from his first show produced in New York in 1978, a review entitled IDENTITY AND OTHER CRISES, to his operatic adaptation of Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice entitled SHYLOCK.
Students and alumni of the Manhattan School of Music have selected highlights from his many shows, which will include beautifully moving and hysterically funny numbers from works like CATHER COUNTY, RICHARD CORY, CLOAK AN DAGGER, FANNY HILL, PORTRAIT and others.
