Description

The theme of our 2017-2018 season explores various aspects of the Power of Music ... Political, Celebration, Spiritual and Harmony.

The opening concert of our 27th season includes music used during the ‘Singing Revolution,'  (1987-1991), during which the Baltic countries created political pressure on the USSR that helped secure the independence of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.  Music has been a powerful, political force at other times and in many places.  Singing We Shall Overcome became a potent part of the Civil Rights movement in the United States.  We will include other examples of the political power of music in our concert.
