Description
You'll be inside the thunder of 100+ drummers (and be one
of them, because everyone drums - bring your own, or borrow one from the
"Great Mound 'O Wahoo.")
You'll open your ancient connection to the Great Mystery as you hear the chorus of women singers chant shamanic songs inspired by Celtic and Scandinavian tradition. You'll revel in powerful mythic stories that teach us how to reconnect with our soul power in these confusing times. The evening culminates in a ceremony in which the "Antlered One" - an embodiment of the divine feminine and powers of the earth, comes to give you a blessing of life force at this, the darkest time. Dancing and ecstasy are absolutely encouraged (but not required). Please feel free to enter this experience in any way that is meaningful to you. It's is a very entertaining holiday show with plenty of laughs and music, but it's also a shamanic ceremony. You don't have to believe anything or do anything that is not authentic to you. You are free to see it as a theatrical performance, as a sacred ceremony, as surreal dance-spoken-word-art, as worship, or as a lucid dream. Wahoo, dear traveler on the road of Mystery! The performance space is wheelchair accessible. Some free parking across the street in the Minnesota Opera parking lot (the far east side of the giant parking lot across the street - look for signs that say MN Opera staff parking). Plenty of parking on the street and in the paid lot 1/4 block away. We love children, but this is not an event suitable for young children (some extended silence, deep ceremony and the storytelling is aimed at adults.) Teens accompanying parents are welcome. What past audience members say: "Dear Jaime Meyer, I don't know who you are or how
you learned this, but you blew my mind in exactly the way I've been wanting.
I haven't felt this alive in years. Thank you." "Great event, great ceremony. This guy is the real deal." "Thank you for the fantastic Sat eve winter solstice event. I have never attended a drumming event--much less a winter solstice event and I loved it---felt renewed and blessed. Thank you. Looking forward to future events....and I especially loved dancing with you!!" "Crazy Amazing. It's like church on acid." "Just wanted to say what an amazing experience last
weekend was. I felt the reindeer goddesses coalesce into a sisterhood as you
rattled around the reindeer hide and antlers. It was a transcendental
moment for me in which I loved my life and felt incredibly grateful for
everything of every flavor that has led me to where I am now. So Be It." Items Not Allowed
Please refrain from wearing fragrances. Please don't take video or photos of the performance. We love children, but this is not an experience suitable for young children (there are times of extended silence, and there is one ceremonial element in act one that can be frightening to smaller children.) We recommend 12 years old+ with a parent.
