Have
you ever spent an evening with comedians from the full spectrum of Jewish,
Arab, Christian, and Muslim cultures, some combinations of the two, and some of
whom are LGB or T, hosted by a good ol’ gal from Texas? Now’s your chance!
Even
people who differ on fundamental(ist) issues love to laugh. So, why not bring
their comics and audiences together to laugh with, and at each other in good
spirits?
Join Danny Cohen (MTV, Comedy Central), Tamer Kattan (Winner: World Series of
Comedy, BBC), Dana Friedman (Gotham
Comedy Club, The Stand), Atheer Yacoub (Boston
Comedy Festival, AXS TV), Olga Namer
(Broadway Comedy Club), Suzie Afridi (Arab-American
Comedy Festival), and your host Ashlee
Voorsanger (Hollywood Improv, Chicago Female Funny Fest) for an evening of
diverse viewpoints, all of them funny, none of them mainstream.
COMIC BIOS:
Atheer Yacoub is a Palestinian-American
comedian and writer. She has been featured in several festivals, including the
Boston Comedy Festival, New York Arab American Comedy Festival, and the Muslim
Funny Fest. She recently made her TV debut on AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live. She
is currently a writer for Passport Control, a live political comedy show
addressing Middle Eastern issues, which premiered on BRIC TV.
Danny Cohen first gained recognition as
the co-creator and co-host of Spin Cycle Comedy, a weekly comedy/variety show
held in a Laundromat. The success of this show was featured in the style
section of The New York Times, ABC news,CNN, MTV, Marie Claire Japan, Newsweek
Magazine and London's The Sunday Independent. Danny has also appeared on Comedy
Central’s Premium Blend, and was the 1st Runner Up on Kraft Foods’ America’s
Wackiest Comedian!

2009, Danny won Best Spec for his short animation “Ben Gay” in The BeFilm
Underground Film Festival. In 2010,he received the MAC Award for Outstanding
Male Comic in New York City. He's been a featured comic at the Just for Laughs
Comedy Festival, Out Olympics in Montreal, and in 2015, appeared on AXS TV's

touring headliner. His overseas experiences include tours for UN troops in
Afghanistan, performing at the American University in Cairo (during the
Egyptian revolution) and the Edinburgh fringe in Scotland, where he received
three 4 star reviews from international press.
Tamer was recently featured on Seth Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity event
with Todd Glass and Hannibal Buress, won the 2015 World Series of Comedy and
will be on this season of America's Got Talent. He has TV & Radio credits
on BBC and SkyTV in the UK as well as in the U.S. on Fox, Hulu, HGTV & truTV.
Dana Friedman is, in all likelihood,
New York's first Orthodox Jewish, transsexual comic. Her performances address a
wide variety of topics, including many outside the very unusual norms of
standup comedy.
She
has appeared with or opened for Janeane Garofalo, Lizz Winstead, Yanis Pappas,
Christian Finnegan, and other major headliners at clubs and theaters all over
the New York tri-state area and occasionally beyond, when her parole officer is
on vacation.
Suzie Afridi started doing stand up
because no one read her blog. She has
been featured in the CinderBlock Comedy Festival, Arab American Comedy
Festival, Muslim Funny Fest. Last month
she hosted the Big Brown Comedy Hour at Comic Strip Live. This week, her story aired on The Moth Radio
Hour on NPR.
When
she is not doing stand up, she pretends to exercise and is very busy not
writing.
Her
long term goal is be able to entertain from bed. She is available for any kind
of event, seriously, anything.
