Montford Park Players Description
Montford Park Players, an Asheville theatrical tradition, is
proud to announce their upcoming production of Roald
Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, dramatized by Richard
R. George.
All performances will be held at the Hazel
Robinson Amphitheatre at 92 Gay Street in the heart of Asheville’s
historic Montford District, from August 10th
through September 1st
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:30pm. This performance
like ALL of Montford Park Players’ shows will be absolutely FREE to
attend. This show, which is appropriate for all ages, centers around the
struggles of a boy following the loss of his parents. James, the boy,
embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, sailing across the ocean on
the titular giant peach, in search of a new life. With him on his
journey, he has a sarcastic centipede, a nurturing spider, a
pessimistic earthworm, a kindly ladybug, and a few other insect pals.
Their journey takes James and his companions far from the home they
knew, but teaches them some important life lessons along the way. We hope you’ll continue your summer with a trip to the Hazel
Robinson Amphitheatre. It’s funny, it’s frivolous, and, as always with
MPP productions, IT’S FREE! Montford Park Players has been presenting Shakespeare and other
classical works to the Asheville community since 1973, and has since
grown to be one of Western North Carolina’s most beloved and
well-known cultural attractions. Additional Information
