Description
An Evening of LGBT and Allied Comedy Goddesses and Heathens. Returning for our ninth show at The Duplex, Queernucopia brings you the Justin Time, Double trans edition–two hilarious Justins, two delightful and fall-down funny trans women, and three all star LGBT comics who aren’t Justins or Trans folks. Harrison Greenbaum (Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, MTV) Elsa Waithe (New York Comedy Festival) Jeena Bloom (Sirius XM Radio) Justin Randall (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) Dana Friedman (She-Devil Comedy Festival) Justin Zirilli (Laugh Factory, L.A.) Bobby Hankinson (Producer, Kweendom; Sirius XM Radio) ************ABOUT THE COMICS*********** Harrison Greenbaum began performing stand-up comedy while studying psychology and English at Harvard. A summa cum laude graduate, Harrison was the co-founder of the Harvard College Stand-Up Comic Society (or "Harvard College SUCS," as the group's name is cheekily acronymized), Performing in more than 600 shows a year. Harrison’s been voted One of Comedy Central's "Comics to Watch," and has received many awards and honors for his comedy, including the Andy Kaufman Award (2010) for creativity and originality in comedy, the Shorty Award in collaboration with Comedy Central and the New York Comedy Festival for "Best Emerging Comic" (2011), and the Magners Comic Stand-Off (2011). Harrison was featured on NBC's America's Got Talent, NBC's Last Comic Standing, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, and National Geographic Channel's Brain Games, and has appeared on MTV, SPIKE TV, the Discovery Channel, and the Science Channel. Behind the scenes, Harrison was a producer for Primetime: Would You Fall for That? on ABC, as well as the warm-up comic for Katie, Katie Couric's daytime talk show on ABC. Elsa Waithe is a comedian and activist from Norfolk, VA now residing in Brooklyn. Elsa's comedy is a mix of critical but lighthearted jabs about race and homosexuality, but typically she just talks about weed and herself. Bobby Hankinson is producer of the Kweendom comedy show, and has appeared on John Fugelsang’s Sirius XM Radio show. Jeena Bloom is a NYC-based transgender female standup who performs all over the country. She has appeared in Vice, New York Magazine and on SiriusXM. Justin Randall is a New York City based queer comedian who has performed in venues all over the city, including Stand Up NY, Broadway Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club and The Bell House. International performances include The Comedy Cabin in London, England as well as multiple appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. You can follow him even now on Twitter and Instagram at @imjustinrandall. Dana Friedman is, in all likelihood, New York's first Orthodox Jewish, transsexual comic. Her performances address a wide variety of topics, including many outside the very unusual norms of standup comedy. She has appeared at the She-Devil Comedy Festival, opened for Janeane Garofalo, Lizz Winstead, Yanis Pappas, Christian Finnegan, Julia Scotti, and other major headliners at clubs and theaters all over the New York tri-state area, and occasionally beyond when her parole officer is on vacation. Justin Zirilli is a stand up comedian, published novelist, and annoying social media nerd. He made his stand up debut in Fall 2017 at Broadway Comedy Club (don’t get excited, it was a stand up class graduation show). Since then, he has actually been booked to perform at Broadway Comedy Club on actual shows a bunch of times! He’s also performed at Stand Up NY, Gotham Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, Laugh Factory in LA, QED, Village Lantern, and all forty locations of the Peoples Improv Theater. Justin doesn’t have a podcast, because he is edgy and counter-culture.
