SpaceForMusic.net and RadioSpiral.net are proud to announce a co-production of the Mountain Skies Festival in Black Mountain, North Carolina this May 3-5, 2019 at the White Horse venue off the square.
Festival producers Tony Gerber and Mike Metlay are bringing years of festival experience to the table, performing in nearly every electro-music based festival in Asheville and Black Mountain over the past 7 years. Mountain Skies Festival 2019 will bring together international musical talents of space and earth music—Stephen Seifert, John Rose, Tony Gerber, SPACECRAFT, Giles Reaves, Ümlaut, Noize Index, Jerry Rockwell, StereoSpread, Brother Saturn, Torben Asp, Antara Annemarie Borg, Palancar, Emerald Adrift, mindSpiral, and many more! Rather like a jazz festival, Mountain Skies will feature a rotating slate of artists performing every half hour from 1 PM until midnight (with a break for supper) over three days—May 3, 4, and 5, 2019. Previous Electro-Music Asheville festivals' instructional and demonstration segments have been removed in favor of more performance slots, as this year's roster has swelled with the addition of musicians from the famed Different Skies festival series in Arcosanti, AZ, and its many descendants worldwide. The Electro-Music and Skies festivals have brought together dozens of musicians and many thousands of fans over the past 16 years. While the producers always welcome sponsorship and support from fans around the world, these events have been funded primarily by the performers themselves—often donating ticket proceeds to keep the lights on at venues that welcome new and exciting music. This year, Mountain Skies brings fans and musicians together in a unique event that has been called "an electronic-music Woodstock" (although hopefully with less rain and mud!). This global fanbase maintains contact with many of the performers through internet radio stations such as the popular RadioSpiral—a sponsor of this year’s festival, returning to broadcast the event live from within the White Horse. Listeners at home will be able to enjoy the music online, as well as in the virtual world of Second Life... but to see the performers themselves, as well as live video synthesis and production from renowned visual artists, you'll have to come to White Horse and experience Mountain Skies for yourself! Tickets for the general event will be $20 (full day) via online pre-sale, or $25 at the event and $10 for children under 12. A 3 day pass will be available for $50. There are many great places to eat around the venue, and Black Mountain is wonderful community with scenic Asheville only minutes away. Come join us for a musical experience you'll never forget. Festival co-producer Tony Gerber started the Space for Music concept in 1985 and continued with several SFM festivals. The SFM record net-label has continued to release albums since 1999 and has nearly 100 releases to date. They are glad to be a part of this amazing festival. RadioSpiral.net RadioSpiral.net is an internet-based radio station for electronic music started by festival co-producer and Different Skies founder Mike Metlay in 2016. The station has servers in the UK and on-air talent from around the globe, featuring 24/7 curated content and hosted shows that frequently include live on-air concerts and virtual happenings in Second Life. RadioSpiral's contributions to the electronic music world are invaluable; many of the participants at the festival are involved in one way or another with the station. RadioSpiral is a wholehearted supporter of the Skies and Electro-Music festivals and of all things electronica and beyond.
