Description
THE NORTH CODE The North Code is an indie folk band based in Madison, Wisconsin. Our debut album, In My Head, is now available on all streaming services! AMERICAN OPERA Incremental progress. Monumental setbacks. Small victories. This is the story of American Opera. More than a record, Small Victories is a collection of moments, both devastating and victorious. Ominous nostalgia confronting hopeful reemergence. Sonically, think Manchester Orchestra meets Ryan Adams, Brand New meets Langhorne Slim — polished stones in a bed of gravel and grit. "The idea behind Small Victories is that the world is going to grow fists and start swinging at you, but you need to find reasons to get back up," says Bee. "Lyrically, there are common threads in the songs that explore heartbreak, hope, loss, religion, mental health, and more. Some of the songs are about failure — I lovingly refer to them as 'pep talks to myself.' Maybe if I sing them over and over, something will change?" SARAH BURTON One bad breakup, two robberies, a few trips to the ER, and moving to the West Texas desert are just a few of the turns that led to the creation of Give Me What I Want. It's a vignette of a new age wild west with songs about internet dating, crazy exes, getting older, and that feeling you get when everyone around you is in love and you're not. In it, Sarah delivers an unapologetic demand with a finger in the air, howling with the underdogs who are sick of getting scraps. It's a raw and real album that skirts Americana, folk, rock and country; the songs tell classic stories in a modern age from love and lust, to enchantment and disenchantment, and that constant search for fulfillment.
