PUEBLO SYMPHONY PRESENTS THEIR SECOND SEASON CONCERT WITH A DUO TO REMEMBER. . . EAST MEETS WEST The Pueblo Symphony will present their second season concert of the 2019-2020 concert season on Saturday, November 9, 7:30 PM, with a program called a Duo to Remember. . . East Meets West. Featured guest artists are We-Wei-Le, violin, and Dr. Zahari Metchkov, piano. Wei-Wei Le was quoted by legendary violinist, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, as, “one of the most talented young musicians I have ever seen.” Wei-Wei, a native of Shanghai, began her violin studies at the age of six. Over the course of her career, Ms. Le has won numerous international violin competitions and has been awarded many important awards for her artistry from the Chinese government. She has been featured many times as a soloist to perform for Queen Elizabeth II of England and her royal family in Buckingham Palace. As a devoted chamber music player, Wei – Wei has collaborated with great musicians and quartets. She currently resides in Las Vegas, NV. She was appointed Assistant Professor in Violin at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a passionate educator, she enjoys teaching private lessons and is a frequent judicator in local and regional string competitions. Dr. Zahari Metchkov is both a pianist and an organist. He has performed at such venues as New York’s Avery Fisher Hall and Washington’s Kennedy Center. He has concertized in Israel, Bulgaria, and the United States. A native of Sofia, Bulgaria, Dr. Metchkov holds a BM in piano and organ performance, a MM in piano performance, and a DMA in piano performance with a minor in music theory from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland, Ohio. In the fall of 2010, he joined the CSU-Pueblo Department of Music. Both Ms. Le and Dr. Metchkov will be performing Mendelsshon’s Concerto for Piano, Violin and Strings in D minor, MWV 04. The Pueblo Symphony will be featured in Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27. |
