There are plenty of your favorite Christmas Story Characters who could have done it.  Maybe it was Bing Crossbow, Clark Griswold, Henry Potter, perhaps Ebenezer Scrooge, or even Ralphie?  Maybe he finally got that Red Rider BB gun he wanted.
