Description

This year, for our Rainbow Connections Season, we want to take a holiday tradition, The Nutcracker, and present the swing version by Duke Ellington. One of the most longstanding ways that humans connect is through movement and dance. This virtual performance will feature our Purple Passion Swing Band, our full Concert Band, and spotlight our Percussion Section! We tip our hats to our sister band, The San Fransisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band, who created the inclusive and engaging Dance-Along Nutcracker concert back in the 80's! We at RCPA invite our friends and family to dust off their dancin’ shoes, push their couches up against the wall, watch out for fido, and swing along from home! Our friends at Northwest Swing Dance Company will also lead our audience in a quick swing lesson so they can impress the neighbors! We will also have a special guest performer taking on the beastly clarinet parts in the jazz suite, Noelle Fabian Dragon! Our concert will livestream beginning on Sunday December 20th at 2PM. RCPA is supported by grants from 4Culture.
