Description
Runaways will be an online streamed event. All
streamed event ticket sales will be available by online advanced purchase only. Runaways is a Tony®-nominated Broadway musical from 1978, devised by Elizabeth Swados through workshops with young people who had lived on the streets of New York City. A collage of songs, dances and spoken word pieces about running away from something – perhaps a home, a parent, a partner, a predator, themselves – this musical is fueled by the energy and resilience of young people. With a mold-breaking, multicultural folk, jazz, pop and rock score, Runaways explores the substitutes we find to deal with the loss of family, however effective or self-destructive they may be. Content warnings: strong language, abuse, suicide, and substance abuse. Book, lyrics and music by Elizabeth Swados; direction by Toby Yatso; music direction by Mario Yniguez; choreography by Hannah Victoria Thomas. Opening Night Patrons: Audience members attending opening night, Friday March 12th, are invited to a pre-show discussion with the creative team at 6:30 p.m., as well as a post-performance Virtual Stage Door to meet and greet the cast, sponsored by the Music Theatre and Opera Student Leadership Team. The Zoom link for both pre-show and post-show events via Zoom will be included in your ticket order confirmation email. Other Runaways Performances: 7:00pm Saturday 3/13 2:00pm Sunday 3/14 |
