The Fitch High School
Band is hosting a benefit concert at the Fitch High School Auditorium on March
27,2015 at 7:30PM to raise much needed
funds to support the music program at Fitch High. This event is titled Keep Music Education Alive and
has raised thousands of dollars for high school music programs throughout New England.
The Beatlemania Stage Show concert at StoningtonHigh School in November sold out and raised $7,000 for their music program. Event organizer Paul Lococo said “do to popular demand and many requests for an additional Beatle’s concert in the area it seems fitting to stage the Beatlemania concert at FitchHigh School Auditorium which has a 1,200 seat venue, twice the size of StoningtonHigh School’s auditorium, where we can accommodate more concert goers.”
The national touring production Beatlemania Stage Show will be performing the complete Beatles experience from the Ed Sullivan day’s right through to the Magical Mystery Tour, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road with period costume changes and authentic Beatles instruments. The musicians from Beatlemania have performed professionally alongside the likes of Carly Simon, Hall and Oates, BJ Thomas, Kiss, Todd Rundgren and others. Band members have also written songs with Cher, Billy Joel, Michael Bolton and Joan Jett and several movie sound tracks which included “Wayne’s World”,” Light of Day” and others.
The FitchHigh School music students will be performing live with the Beatlemania musicians during the concert on some songs.
Fitch High Music Director Andrew Lefebvre said “This event is both educational and a fun way for the Fitch High School music program to raise money and will be a great experience for the students to perform with a professional group of musicians.” The proceeds will be used to support the Fitch High School Music Department that enrolls students in the marching band, jazz ensemble and music theory. The Fitch Music Department has over 150 students enrolled in the school music program.
“You never know who will be the next John, Paul, George or Ringo or in fact the next number one hit group.”Lefebvre stated Tickets for the show are available at Big Y Groton and Stonington locations , www.purplepass.com and 800-316-8559. |
