COVID Vaccine / Negative Test Policies and Procedures

Due to the surge of COVID-19 Delta variant and the dramatic increase of hospitalized Mainers, City Theater is changing its COVID policy to help ease the current burden of the medical system.

Therefore, anyone entering City Theater (Staff, Board, Patron, Actor, Volunteer) must either be fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test within the last 72 hours prior to entering the theater.  There are no exemptions from this policy.

City Theater will consider someone fully vaccinated as long as they have received at least 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 1 dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine within the past year; City Theater will consider either the PCR or Antigen test (whether rapid or lab). 

Patrons will have to show either a vaccination card (actual card or clear picture) or a negative test before entering the building as verified by City Theater staff and volunteers.  Patrons will also be required to verify their identity at the door (driver’s license, photo ID, other verification methods, etc.)  If using a negative test as verification, documentation must clearly show the patrons name, date of the test, and result.

Those who are unable or unwilling to provide documentation can receive a refund or change tickets, but only by emailing the City Theater box office at boxoffice@citytheater.org

Due to this change in policy, masks will not be required at a City Theater show; however, due to the high number of cases, mask wearing is strongly recommended for all patrons unless actively eating or drinking.

This policy is in effect through 10/31/21 and may be changed, updated, or extended as needed.

NOTE: This policy is also pertains to all City Theater staff, actors, and volunteers; therefore, City Theater volunteers must also provide proof of vaccination status or negative COVID test as outlined above.  However, unlike patrons, volunteers must wear a mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
