Description

The sounds of an orchestra are unified, powerful, and magical, defining many eras throughout history. The Albany Symphony Orchestra returns to the Tifton stage directed by Maestro Claire Fox Hillard. This concert will feature double bassist Patricia Weitzel in Bottesini’s Concerto No. 2 in b minor. Additionally, the performance will present a wealth of Italian music by Gabrieli, Respighi, Mascagni, and Rossini. Francesca Caccini’s Overture to La liberazione di Ruggerio comes from what is believed to be the first opera written by a female composer. Savor this outstanding program filled with an Italian feast of musical masterpieces.
