Beyond The Box Description
Beyond The Box is a new cabaret that offers a space where the artists choose how they want to be represented versus how they are seen through “industry standards,” a night full of performances that go beyond the box of what musical theatre can be. ALANA KNOBEL (she/her/hers) is the creator and producer of Beyond the Box. A recent graduate of AMDA and The New School, she is ready to be part of the change our theatre community so clearly needs. This show represents a new beginning for how artists choose to represent themselves and shed the confinements of the theatre industry. A huge thank you to The Duplex, Steven Silverstein, my family, and friends for helping me on this wonderful journey to start something new. TALIA CUTULLE (she/her/hers) has been away from the stage for so long, she forgets how to write a bio! After graduating from AMDA in 2019, she was finally settling into the life of an actor in NYC, until the CoCo-RoRo forced her back home to Boston. This didn’t stop her though! Over the past year, she sang a lot on TikTok, placed in the top 15 of Broadway World’s “Next On Stage” competition, and even originated the role of Barbie/Starcrossed Girl in the workshop of a new musical Toyland. She is back in the city, BACK on stage, and couldn’t be more excited! Lots of love to my parents (always<3), my incredible voice teacher Sarah for whipping my voice back into shape, and my genius of a BFF Alana for creating this! Enjoy the show!! ABDU GARMAZI HYTREK (he/him, they/them)was born and raised in the best city in the world Chicago, Illinois. He hopes to use theater as a tool to enlighten viewers on a myriad of stories and experiences they don’t normally have access to. Abdu just finished a new workshop of the musical Borders at the York Theater and before that, played Nino in Amelie at the Chaberlee Theater. He wants to give a shoutout to his mom, brother, and the rest of his family, he wouldn’t be where he is without them. KATIE GRAY (she/her/hers) is a performer primarily based in New York City as well as Massachusetts. She is a graduate of AMDA New York (Class of 2019). Some of her credits include Paulette in Legally Blonde, Wednesday in The Addams Family, and Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda. She was recently featured as the “Rising Star” at “Broadway Belters Live!” Katie is so excited to be performing at Beyond The Box cabaret! You can find Katie on TikTok and Instagram @itskatiegray. JOSEPH CONCHA (he/him) is a recent graduate from AMDA on both NY and LA campuses. Joseph is very excited to be a part of this show, being this is his first production since graduating from college. Follow him on Instagram for upcoming projects of his! @Jjosephhh KAI MARAYAG (he/him/his) is based in New York but was born in the Valley of the Sun Phoenix, Arizona. A graduate of AMDA New York (class of 2019), and current student at The New School in the BFA program. Kai is ecstatic to finally get back on stage after the dreaded absence of live performance. DAPHNEE DEANA is a 23-year-old AMDA graduate from Linden, New Jersey. Since graduating, she has been auditioning and working on her own music project. She plans on releasing her first single in a few months to start off her music career as an R&B singer-songwriter. SIERRA LA PUERTA/NIKO GRANADOS (she/her) a is an icon, a legend, and the moment. The Charli D'Amelio of drag as some would say. After spending years trapped in the mind of one Niko Granados, she finally came to life in August 2020 where she won a virtual ballroom category with “We Thr3e Queens.” Since then, she’s hosted a virtual queer variety show, The Forward Show, and is on the rise on TikTok.
