Wyoming Symphony Orchestra Description
At long last, The Suffragette Symphony will debut at the John F. Welsh Auditorium on March 12, 2022! The focal point of The Suffragette Symphony, is an original composition commissioned by the WSO from composer Stephanie Ann Boyd titled Julia Louisa Esther. Boyd traveled to Wyoming not only to hear the orchestra perform, but also to experience vast swaths of our landscapes and communities, as well as speak to local historians all to inform the composition of this one of a kind piece. We are so excited to have the opportunity to finally debut this landmark composition and for it to be heard live as well as for years to come. To round out this unique program the WSO will perform works centering around women and their experiences such as Florence Price’s Dances in the Canebrakes and selections from Bizet’s Carmen Suite.
