Description
Playcrafters’ roof began failing seriously while we were shut down in 2020. It needs to be replaced, and as you can imagine, replacing a gambrel roof of this size is a very expensive project.
Insurance will only cover replacing less than half the roof (parts damaged by winds in 2020); we have raised a few thousand beyond that amount but, when reopened mid-year in 2021, it was a struggle just to put on shows, much less mount a major capital campaign. We managed to produce some shows and, by the end of the season, we began to see some audience growth again. It was a start; this season we hope to win back more patrons. But we may not be able to complete the season. And so, we come to you for help. If you would like to see this nearly-century-old QC institution continue, we ask that you come out and support Playcrafters at the G.I.T. Improv Comedy Show to help raise money to fix our roof so we can keep this 93-year-old tradition alive! We believe Playcrafters matters because it has been in business here for so long, entertaining so many and providing a space for so many to perform. We have long had a commitment to being an inclusive and diverse space, and we hope to see even greater participation this season by those who have been traditionally underserved.
