Churchill: A one man play by Andrew Edlin Description
It is April 1955. Sir Winston Churchill, aged 80, Prime Minister of Great Britain, ‘the Man who Won the War’, is tired, old, and losing his grip. He must decide ‘to go or not to go’. Churchill reminisces about his extraordinary life. He tells witty jokes and stories – ‘De Gaulle looks like a female llama who has been disturbed in her bath’. He relives iconic speeches: ‘We shall fight on the beaches…’ Churchill makes tragic, private revelations about his family, always searching for the key that will free him from the long burden of office. |
