Children's Theatre of Winnetka Description
A silent film star falls for a chorus girl just as he and his delusionally jealous screen partner are trying to make the difficult transition to talking pictures in 1920s Hollywood. With iconic songs like “Singin' the Rain”, “Make ‘em Laugh” and “Good Mornin’ " and wonderful dance numbers, this is a show the entire family will love! You’ll be singing these songs as you leave the theatre! Handicapped seats are available by calling Connie Yonan at 847-751-1870. Handicapped seats are not available online. There are two casts for this event. Cast lists are available at: https://tinyurl.com/ctwsitrcastlist Adapted from the 1952 film of the same name, "Singin’ in the Rain” portrays the transition from the silent film era to the new “talkies”. After the popularity of the first feature length talking film, The Jazz Singer, movie studios are forced to quickly change how they make films in order to accommodate sound. When Monumental Studios is forced to turn their silent film, The Dueling Cavalier, into a talkie they have one problem: the star Lina Lamont can’t sing, and has a voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard. As a result, the film’s other star, Don Lockwood, and his best friend, Cosmo Brown, decide to use aspiring young actress, Kathy Selden, to provide her voice. Items Not Allowed
