Description
Since 1941 the Winchester Host Lions Club has coordinated the glofiber Grand Feature Parade through the historic streets in downtown Winchester. The Grand Feature Parade will step off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and will include five parade divisions. From start to finish the parade is nearly 4 hours long! All tickets are reserved chairs on the ground level. There are handicap accessible seating on the Handley South side (on the Handley Campus). Handley North is in front of the Judges Stand. The parade has special and equestrian units, floats, and marching bands. The glofiber Grand Feature Parade features bands like the Quantico Marine Band, Steelers Drumline, Community Bands and High School bands from the Mid-Atlantic Region. The route winds for 1.5 miles around the historic downtown area and passes by the iconic John Handley High School campus. Check back for a lineup of units a week before the parade. The lineup is subject to change. Band Awards Sponsored by Shenandoah University Bands come from all over the region to compete for the top spot and cash prizes from the $30,000 prize pool! We have had several bands who come year after year to enjoy the "Springtime Extravaganza" Firefighters Parade Competition Grand Feature Parade Competition Float Awards There are Professional and Non-Professional floats who compete in Civic-Service, Business and Communities Participation categories. 1st Place Sweepstakes Award 2nd Place Lion's Award 3rd Place Grand Marshal's Award Items Not Allowed
