Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra Description
POETRY AND SOUND The concert begins with Sergei Rachmaninioff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring Nathan Eck on piano. Though premiered in 1902, the piece contains themes that have been reborn as melodies of several popular songs. The second piece, Gabriela Lena Frank’s Apu: Tone Poem for Orchestra, portrays the Peruvian spirit Apu keeping a watchful eye on travelers passing through the Andean mountains.The concert concludes with a Christmas surprise. |
