Canellakis) Smetana Piano Trio in G minor, op. 15 Schumann Piano Quintet in E-flat major, op. 44 Czech folk influences abound in Dvořák's enchanting Miniatures for string trio, followed by two vivacious Bulgarian traditional dances, the Gankino Horo and Bulgarian Bulge, arranged for cello and piano by the performers. Bedřich Smetana opened his soul in his heartfelt Piano Trio, and American 20th century icon Lukas Foss explored ultimate instrumental virtuosity in his Capriccio for cello and piano. The program comes to a rewarding conclusion with Schumann’s Piano Quintet, the first of its kind and an essential work for chamber music lovers worldwide. |
