Description
"St. John Passion" Celebrate the 300th anniversary of J.S. Bach’s stunning “St. John Passion” with Messiah’s Chamber Singers, the Schola Sancti Gregorii from St. Lawrence Cathedral, and orchestra. This emotive setting of the passion story illuminates Jesus’ humanity and divinity through Bach’s genius writing and devout theological convictions. Compositional symmetry, symbolism, complex harmonies, poignant chorale settings and passionate performers narrate the most profound story ever told. Thank you for joining Messiah University for Bach’s St.
John Passion this Friday, March 1st at 7:30pm. Please join us
for a pre-concert lecture by Dr. James LaGrand, professor of history and
director of Messiah’s Honors Program, as he shares his thoughts on Bach’s
music, faith, and the structure and meaning of the St. John Passion. The
lecture will take place in Parmer Hall from 6:45-7:15pm. See you soon for
a great evening of Bach!” As a courtesy to our performers and other patrons, we suggest that children under age 6 not attend our performances. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket. |
