Join us to celebrate SONOMENTO’s musical director, Craig Fields, who after eighteen years conducts MacPhail’s premiere adult choral ensemble for the last time in a spirited performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana. This monumental work normally performed by gigantic orchestral forces and large choirs will be a bit different this time. Maestro Fields is preparing fifty daring SONOMENTO singers and soloists who will take the stage in Antonello Hall to present a more intimate, compact version with two grand pianos and full percussion ensemble. This seminal dramatic oratorio will set your senses on fire with its rhythmic intensity as it extols and derides the serendipitous nature of fate, the glories of first love, the excesses of lust, drinking and gambling … and spring’s sensual re-awakening.
