“I hack off my mother's remaining arm.” Ama. Egg. Oyá. Written by Lori Felipe-Barkin Staged Reading Presentation: Language: Bilingual RSVP: $10 Suggested Donation Location: Synopsis This is the story of Ama, a Cuban-American woman from Hialeah, Florida hellbent on having a child despite many miscarriages and bad luck. It's no wonder she feels an affinity towards Oyá, a barren African Orisha. Blending Santería, African fables, and Regguetón, this bilingual play examines motherhood and with it, maternal ambivalence, infertility, and class. Additional Information
