Description
New Works Weekend is Mountain Community Theater’s celebration of our entire theater community through the putting up staged readings new plays from playwrights around the region. This year we’re presenting three one act plays as a set each night, and we are so excited to see how our audiences receive, enjoy and interact with these debut pieces. All tickets are 2 for $10 for the entire weekend, to encourage lovers of theater to take this chance to bring new people such as friends, family, lovers and strangers into this beloved art form. On August 16th, 17th and 18th, we will be debuting “Uprooted” by Camila Snyder-Alainz and Mathew Chipman, new young playwrights from Santa Cruz, is a fantastical work following the travails of a newly broken hearted tree spirit whose sorrow influences the fates of some of history’s finest creative souls. "Vodka Cran” by Daniel Martinez, who has submitted from over the hill in San Jose, tells a story about love across time and space, while managing to fit the absolutely mythical into the everyday. Finally, MCT is proud to present “Giving Up Smoking” by Harvey Linda, playwright from Western Stage, in a story of love, loss, dance, and wine. |
