Wildwood Radio Theatre Description
Wildwood Radio Theatre Debuts with Two Comedies Red-Hot Lovers Aug 22nd-25th /Outsiders Aug 29th-Sep 1st Lake Wildwood’s resident theatre company rolls out its renamed series of readers theatre productions with two American comedies, in four performances each. In Neil Simon’s classic “Last of the Red-Hot Lovers,” long-married Barney Cashman wants just one extramarital fling to spice up his otherwise “nice” life. But as Barney “woos” three very different prospective partners for his misbegotten romantic adventure, Simon’s script exploits Barney’s ineptitude as a philanderer for all its comic potential without losing sight of its poignant humanity. Adult themes and language; parental discretion advised. “Last of the Red-Hot Lovers” plays Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 22, 23, and 24 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 25 at 2 p.m. The sweetly absurd political farce of “The Outsider,” by Paul Slade Smith, predates our current disarray, but its comic premise is as timeless as politics itself. Shy, nerdy Ned Newley is the worst candidate to ever run for office—until a political fixer and a pollster decide he’s just what voters want. Don’t miss this uproarious election-year comedy. “The Outsider” will play Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 29, 30, and 31 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 1 at 2 p.m. Items Not Allowed
