Sarah Chalfy is an active performer on a wide variety of musical stages, from clubs to concert halls to cathedrals. A specialist in premiering new works, she has performed the leading roles in Kim Sherman’s opera ADA (about Ada Lovelace Byron), David Friedman/Peter Kellogg’s musical Stunt Girl (Nellie Bly), Michael Gordon/Richard Foreman’s opera What to Wear (Madeleine X), and others. She has collaborated with some of NYC’s hottest new music ensembles, including Alarm Will Sound, Newspeak, and NOW. On the pre-Baroque front, she is a frequent soloist with ARTEK, Early Music New York, and other members of GEMS NY. She has recorded on the Canteloupe, New Amsterdam, and Innova labels, and will release a solo cabaret album with Jocelyn Dueck this fall. Sarah has degrees in voice from the Peabody Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, and Académie Internationale d’été de Nice. She’s still paying off her damned student loans (donations accepted).
